Strategic Planning
(in nonprofit or for-profit organizations)
http://www.mapnp.org/library/plan_dec/str_plan/str_plan.htm
Abstract:
Simply put, strategic planning determines where an organization is going
over the next year or more, how it's going to get there and
how it'll know if it got there or not.
Far more important than the strategic plan document,
is the planning process itself.
There are a variety of perspectives about strategic planning
and a variety of approaches used in the strategic planning processes.

Is Strategic Planning for Technology an Oxymoron?
by Martin Ringle and Daniel Updegrove
CAUSE/EFFECT Volume 21, Number 1, 1998, pp. 18-23
http://www.educause.edu/ir/library/html/cem9814.html
Introduction
Strategic planning for technology is a topic that has received
so much attention it hardly seems worthy of further discussion.
The CAUSE Web site, for example, includes dozens of
articles on strategic planning as well as copies of technology plans
that have been contributed by more than eighty colleges and universities.

CREATING AND IMPLEMENTING A TECHNOLOGY PLAN
Preparation of the plan involves the development of a short, articulate statement
describing the application of technology as it is related to the fulfillment
of your library’s service plan.
Keep in mind that technology is a tool and a means to an end, not the end itself.
