    Publishers Want You!
    -- 2/15/2003
Excerpt quoted from Library Journal online
    http://tinyurl.com/jtx0

The recent announcement of the new Authors@Your Library web site is generating real excitement among publishers. A joint project of the Association of American Publishers, American Library Association, FOLUSA, and Library Journal, this site will eventually be a searchable online database for both librarians seeking authors for their programs and publicists trying to find venues for their authors.
Right now, there are web forms online for both librarians and publishers to fill out that will populate the database.
(The site is temporarily accessible at www.ala.org/publicprograms/authors@yourlibrary but will be hosted by LJ, Publishers Weekly, and School Library Journal in conjunction with their Authors on the Highway service.)

      Library Management Hot Topics:
A Roundtable Discussion with Experienced Library Managers
      Broadcast date: March 10, 2006

Based on numerous requests and positive reaction to the Roundtable format used last spring, we will bring together experienced library managers, leaders in their field, to discuss a series of management-related issues. Both large and small academic and public libraries will be represented. Viewer-suggested topics include: roles of support staff in libraries; team-building when the director won’t lead; library recruiting; keeping staff motivated; disaster planning; and strategies for working with faculty.

Google Print: Its Impact on Scholarship and Libraries
      Broadcast date: April 28, 2006

This program will explicate Google’s vision of the future. We will discuss how a successful project will impact the world of information from the perspectives of librarians, academic administrators, scholars and publishers. This project has stirred up a bundle of issues, some of them contentious, but our goal is to highlight the key issues in a constructive manner. We plan to produce a program that is consistent with the academic tradition of a “spirit of inquiry” and not a polemic.

      Series Hosts
Richard M. Dougherty is your program host. He is President of Dougherty and Associates, a library consulting firm [www.rmdassociates.com]; the former Director of Libraries at the University of Michigan and UC-Berkeley; and a public library trustee.
Mike Jackson, MBA is a former NBC News correspondent and Chicago TV news anchor who has hosted scores of professional development and training programs for leading corporations and organizations. He’s been associated with College of DuPage library teleconferences for almost a decade.
